Invitation to rate the Bloopers of 2011

Dear Friends,

This year there has been a significant number of Advertising Bloopers that have appeared in the newspapers. I have tried to bring you most of them and some with relatively less or insignificant mistakes have been avoided.

I invite you to go through the bloopers put up on the blog and rate them in terms of the most serious and most funniest blooper of 2011.

Wish to receive your valuable feedback with your comments which I would like to put it up by the first week of January 2012.

Nutrela - Wrong Brand Name!!

Dear Friends,

Here is the ad of Nutrela published in a magazine, where the Brand Name has been wrongly mentioned. It starts with totally wrong name "Utrela" in the headline. In the body copy there are three different ways that it has been mentioned.

These type of mistakes harm the brand name and the correct pronunciation of the brand is also affected. On the contrary it confuses the readers, how to  pronounce it. Such mistakes should be avoided as it largely affects the brand.

With high frequency of bloopers appearing in newspapers and magazines, particularly in translated ads, sometimes it gives a feeling that proof reading of the ad is now a thing of the past.

Blooper.. Wrong Company Name!!!

Dear Friends,

This tender ad has a mistake in the company name in the first line. It should have been "Narmada" while it has been inadvertently typed "Narnada"

The ad has been carried in The Times of India on Page 19 today.

Care should be taken to check the company name when an official tender is released. This might require a corrigendum to be published by the company.

Serious Mistake in AIDS Related Advertisement.

Dear Friends,

This is a an ad with a grave mistake which has changed the entire meaning and the objective of the ad on World AIDS Day. This has happened because of an error in the translation of a single word, which should have been actually translated and written as "પ્રસાર" while it has been printed as "પ્રચાર"

This ad's actual objective is to convey a message "On this World AIDS Day, let us all come together like one single Nation and take an oath to stop the spread of the disease - HIV"

The wrong word has lead to an opposite meaning - "On this World AIDS Day, let us all come together like one single Nation and take an oath to stop the PUBLICITY of the disease - HIV"

While discussing this ad with my friend Dharmeshbhai, he has also remarked that in the headline/punchline related one of the word "લાભદાયક" which means "Beneficial" is irrelevant while using it with HIV. As per his opinion it should have been "સન્માનજનક" which means Respectable.

Friends, many ads with such grave mistakes go unnoticed. I will continue the effort and track such Bloopers. Thanks for all your appreciation.
