Do you know Mint is now in Ahmedabad?

Hi Friends,

Yesterday the three-year-old business daily from HT Media, Mint has launched its sixth edition in Ahmedabad.

How many people know it???

Apart from the media, advertising and circulation fraternity hardly anyone knows about it. I wonder whether their TG knows about it. Ahmedabad already has The Economic Times (English and Gujarati), Business Standard, The Financial Express (English and Gujarati) for the readers interested in Business News and Analysis.

There was a pre-launch circulation drive to get subscribers with a target of 5000 before the launch.

BUT NOTHING ON THE DAY OF LAUNCH!!

I feel that there was a very good opportunity to announce the launch in a proper manner.

Again in the half page advertisement by the publication in The Economic Times today, nowhere it says specifically that MINT is here in Ahmedabad. (Have a look at the scanned ad.) The copy does not have the desired message for the reader/s, except for a small line below (hardly noticable) to call for subscription.

There are hoardings in the city which carry the same message but again the creatives just do not mention the main objective to be conveyed that MINT is here in Ahmedabad.

What do you feel about it?

Do write in your views while I keep a track of the happenings in and Around Ahmedabad.

yes even i am wondering why they came in without any hype or dhamaka.......just a thought, TOI geared up when DNA got launched. No such activities from ET or BS....when MINT got launched.

nikhil it is not that the competition has kept quiet and have not reacted infact if you read today's TOI on page 2 there is an article which mentions TOI distributes sweets to vendors, infact Mint had offered sweets to all vendors depending on the copies they were picking up, maybe TOI must have got a whiff of it and had / may not had distributed the sweets but why a story in TOI about this, which means the competition is definitely wide awake.

Am following the MINT from the day 1....chewed it literally like MINT, disappointed...The reasons r....1. Started their 6th edition from Ahmedabad and surprisingly no news ( NOT EVEN A SINGLE STORY) on Gujarat......2. Even their outsourced printing vendor is not doing justice to the BRAND. Overall it's a MINT with the HOLE.

Do let us know the unique features...

Do you think there was a need of one more Business Newspaper??

in my humble opinion.....distributing sweets is no brainer.......reaction. There was no need of another business paper from the market or reader point of view but mint obviously needed it in order to have a pan india presence for the advertising flow. u got to have gujarat's presence in order to get ads selling ipo's, financial instruments etc. i like the product ie when i have enough time to read some interesting article but am disappointed if there is no mention of gujarat business. purely from a academic point of view.....keen to know how the market absorbs it, in terms of circulation and ad flow.

First of all, I would like to know if there was any need for one more business daily..
As it is no business daily is doing well in gujarat in terms of revenue...
As far as their launch is concerned nobody except some collegues in the same industry knew about this...Anyways lets wish them "All the Best"...for this initiative

Papers are sprouting up like mushrooms but is there food enough to sustain all of them? Despite all attempts by the english papers the vernacs are growing and english ones are fighting for survival in Gujarat!! Lets see how the future unfolds.

Well Well..Mint is finally in Gujarat..or should we say Ahmedabad..Sad but true only handful of people in the industry are aware of this launch..
If this Mint really catches on the flavor of "Apanu Gujarat" is what we all have to see and read along with our masala cha in the days to

Dear Friends,

Going through the Mint, you might have noticed that there is one unique feature about it.

Page 2, it gives us a Indexes of the Companies, Brands and People who have been covered, on daily basis. (This is normally a common feature in some Magazines but not dailies)

This helps in saving time and the reader can directly go to the page of his interest.

On the other hand this has a disadvantage also. There are chances of edit / news and ads being missed by readers.
