Proof Reading Mistake.

Dear Friends,

There is a serious issue of proof reading which I have been highlighting in my blog.

I do not think if there are any proof readers left in the industry. The industry has taken it very lightly and errors such as these keep on repeating!

Inviting your comments.

Another Blooper. It cannot be in a name!

Dear Friends,

It is an error in the name of the person! Atleast that part needed a proof reading. This is related to National Education day.

Its high time that proof reading is taken seriously.

One little letter has changed the message!!

Dear Friends,

One little word "ને" instead of "એ" has changed the meaning in the headline. Or I might as well say the headline lost its meaning.

The brand gets harmed, but is this thing really understood or paid attention??

I am sure there will be no attention to this and might even see a second insertion with the same mistake in other newspapers too. Not counting the cost part for building the brand.

Another Big Brand with an Advertising Blooper

Dear Friends,

Here is an ad which has a problem with the words in the copy. There are small mistakes in spacing "ખાંસી ના" and a full stop without completing a sentence (ideally there should be a word "છે" after the word આપે.

But a bigger mistake is where the word "આ" which means "This" has been put. It could have been avoided else it gives a wrong connotation. If you read the sentence along with this word and a comma which has been put it could also mean as if the product is a headache! "આ માથાનો દુખાવો,"

Please send your comments.

Small Mistake spoils the Copy.

Dear Friends,

Here is another blooper which has got printed without proof reading.

The mistake is in the word "વાર્તાઓ" at two places in the headline and body copy.

A nice copy which attracts the readers gets killed because of such errors.

Proof Reading could have avoided the Blooper

Dear Friends,

This ad released by RBI is full of errors which have occurred because no proof reading has been done.

You will hardly find a line without errors. An important ad which is issued in public interest will not be "interesting" if you start reading it. This would have gone in many other languages too.

I particularly remember and appreciate one publication in the country "The Hindu" who used to proof read all the advertisements received by them for their newspaper and send telegrams to the agencies, if there were errors in the advertisement. It used to refuse to carry an ad with mistakes.

Another Blooper in Headline

Dear Friends,

Here is another headline blooper. If you go through the earlier blog posts you will find that most of the mistakes by different brands / agencies are done in the headline! Ironically headline is one of the key elements in the ad to attract reader attention and major brands have gone wrong in this important part of communication.

Do send your comments.

The 100th Advertising Blooper!

Dear Friends,

Here in this ad there is a mistake in the headline. The word "કરો" should have been there instead of "કરા" .

There is also a punctuation error in the second point of the body copy. There is a full stop instead of a question mark and it changes the meaning.

This is the 100th Blooper that I have come across. I think  proof reading the copy before release,  which is a very important part of any communication, is given the least importance. Do let me know your comments.

Mistake in Headline!!

Friends,

Sorry, I had been occupied a bit and could not bring you advertising bloopers, though I used to come across them.

Here is a one where the headline has mistakes. The mistake is in the word "દરરોજ" There is a space in between the words which could give a different meaning.

Moreover there are mistakes in the word "ઉઠું" and "જોઉં" also.

This ad was carried in Chitralekha.

Do visit the blog and post your comments.

Blooper in Intel Advertisement

Friends,

Here the advertisement has mistake in writing the Gujarati word "ya"  This mistake of the letter ય "ya" and ચ "cha" is very common.

However here the entire word has also been spelled incorrectly. The letter even if it had been correctly put would have gone wrong.

કરીએ  is the perfect word.

Many times words with errors like these, since it does not have any meaning,  while reading the reader might  lose his interest and the purpose of the advertisement might be lost.

Do send me your comments and keep reading the blog as always.

Nikhil

MY FM Blooper

Dear Friends,

Sometimes a small punctuation error could lead you to a trouble.

This error of punctuation of a comma has changed the meaning of the ad.

The comma should have been after the word ગોળી. This has changed the meaning of a sensitive copy in the headline.

Apart from that there is an error in the word સરહદ in the body copy which has been written in a wrong way in the headline as well as the copy.

Specifically when there is an ad like this which involves countries utmost care should be taken.

Do send in your comments.

Gender Related Error in Translation!!

Dear Friends,

After a long time I came across a good example of a blooper. Though I have been seeing many ads with small errors but have not been uploading them.

This headline relates to a girl introducing readers about the best "Paani Puri Maker" (normally they are males) and then she says its her mummy!

The same copy could have been written મળો શહેરની  શ્રેષ્ઠ  પાણીપૂરી બનાવનારને. મારી મમ્મી  ને !

Friends please send in your comments about this blooper.

Nikhil

Translation Blooper !

Dear Friends,

Here is an ad which has serious mistake in the sub headline.

The line written, instead of selling the product, is actually cautioning people before using it.

It is confusing and the Gujarati has been written in a way that is actually harming the brand image of the company.

This could have been avoided if a localised agency in Gujarat would have made the same advertisement.

Please send in your comments.

Nikhil

Mistake in the Headline!

Dear Friends,

Here is an advertisement which has a mistake in the headline, which could confuse the reader. The word marked in the ad relates to a masculine gender, while actually the target group is females. The word should read :
ગોરા.
A very small typo can change the meaning of the headline and seriously affect response.
